Backstage Express is a meta site-specific and immersive show that lets the audience experience a slice of life in show business, from auditioning to closing night, and uses the processes of a theatre production to unveil the aspects of the arts, culture, and entertainment industry often unseen by the layperson.

This work was created with Nik Waheeda under our partnership The Green-Eyed Monster Project. Despite co-creating as long-time partners, due to our general delineation of roles for this project, Nik was billed as Director & Scenographer, and me as Writer.

Although presented as part of KLPAC’s “Emerging Artists Residency”, Backstage Express was the “anchor show” that ran for the entire showcase period of the mentorship program, while other shows by aspiring and emerging artists rotated weekly.
